George Russell edged out Carlos Sainz to take pole position for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The Silver Arrows have looked like the car to beat in the practice sessions, as it suited the low grip and low temperatures. However, Russell’s teammate Lewis Hamilton didn’t get a clean lap in Q3 leading him to qualify 10th.

Pierre Gasly was the surprise of qualifying in third, taking advantage of the tricky conditions.

A poor qualifying for McLaren has left them vulnerable to Ferrari in the Constructors’s Championship. Lando Norris was sixth ahead of Oscar Piastri in eighth.

Max Verstappen starts one position ahead of Lando Norris in fifth. If they finish in that order on Sunday, Verstappen will be crowned his fourth world title.

Franco Colapinto continued his crash-prone run from Brazil. He crashed towards the end of his final flying lap in Q2, causing significant damage and a long rebuild for his team for the race.

In the start of a triple header that will decide his career, Sergio Perez failed to make it out in Q1, starting 16th, behind both RB drivers who are targeting his seat for next year. This also harms Red Bull's chances to overturn their deficit to McLaren in the championship.

Fernando Alonso was another big name knocked out in Q1. His teammate Lance Stroll qualified last after only getting one lap in following a mechanical in third practice.
